Indonesian users of video sharing website YouTube can now enjoy the service not just in Bahasa Indonesia, but also in a way that is more related to the Nusantara market. Yesterday, the company announced the launch of youtube.co.id, featuring content from YouTube's partners in the country, from the media to music industry.

The media companies are Kompas TV, Kompas Cybermedia, Viva Media Group and MyTrans.com. Meanwhile, the recording companies include Aquarius Musikindo, Nagaswara and Musica Studios.
YouTube has also signed license agreements with Indonesian musicians and composers under Wahana Musik Indonesia (WMI), which would enable the musicians to earn from advertisements that appear on YouTube while their video is being played.
While many Indonesian artists have complained about online music piracy, YouTube will give them additional incomes by placing advertisements prior to their music videos' viewing.
YouTube's Asia-Pacific director of product management, Adam Smith, said 70 percent of YouTube viewers were outside the United States. In Asia, Indonesia boasts the highest viewer count.
